Michael's journey is rooted in a deep passion for biomechanics, which began with a love for sports and strength training. Intrigued by the body's anatomy and adaptability, Michael pursued and achieved certification as a Personal Trainer, a title he proudly holds to this day.
As a highly experienced trainer, Michael is known to bring a high level of compassion and attention to detail to his work. With nearly two decades of training in the health and fitness industry, Michael is a respected coach and consultant. His expertise has led him to present on various health topics at organizations across the country.
Michael's curiosity and genuine care for helping others naturally guided him towards a career in exercise and acupuncture. While getting a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Michael privately studied with world class practitioners in acupuncture and martial arts to enhance his understanding of Eastern medicine. Since graduating, Michael has had the privilege to apprentice directly under Dr. Clayton Shiu, who expanded upon the teachings of "The Father of Modern Acupuncture," Dr. Shi Xue Min.
Michael intensely studied the integral parts of the Nanopuncture neurological acupuncture system with Dr. Shiu. He has refined his acupuncture skills to help the Shiu Clinic treat stroke, speech, gait, Parkinson’s, and other neurological conditions. He also has experience treating individuals with stress, digestive discomfort, immune related conditions, and those seeking preventative health approaches.
Michael’s background in personal training makes him uniquely adept at treating orthopedic issues in the context of Chinese Medicine. He believes enhancing movement quality and becoming more resilient are cornerstone to the health and longevity of the musculoskeletal system. Therefore, when necessary, Michael integrates movement as part of a treatment strategy to empower patients and extend treatment beyond the treatment room.
With a career spanning over 15 years, Michael has served a wide range of clients in the city of New York, including children, seniors, doctors, desk workers, and entrepreneurs. All of them share one common goal - finding an effective way to recalibrate and restore balance in their lives.
